They say the best things in life are worth fighting for, but perhaps fighting for those extra 2 minutes of commiserate shut-eye could be better used elsewhere. For your perusal, I’ve shared a sneak peek in to my morning routine for anyone who’s been trying to acclimatize their own daily savoir-faire, and simply to indulge those wishing to leaf-through another’s.

Strolling down memory lane this morning, it hits me; gone are the days where little old me would excitedly wake at the crack of dawn, if not to pester my poor parents, then perhaps to scoff down loaded mouthfuls of sugary chocolate cereal, eyes glued to the weekend showings of my favorite, now begotten, cartoons. As a working adult, waking up early can be a drag, I know this because I too am human, and often get to bed late at night with zero ambitions of setting my alarm before the sun rises. Instead, I’m realistic about how much sleep I need to conduct myself for the day ahead, and go according to that. When I do have a long day ahead, I amplify my breakfast to include some eggs, carbs and veg. Making breakfast at home, while sipping on a piping hot long black, eases me in to the day by engaging my senses, goading me awake in the most organic way. Plus, who doesn’t love cooking in their PJs? It’s my guilty pleasure.

As a blogger and content creator, admin is a key part of my job. Not only checking emails, but also replying to comments, engaging with other content creators, their content, and the world of online sharing. I use several social platforms so I spend a good 30-40 minutes in the morning, post-breakfast, catching up on innovative ways to create, share and engage. Currently, I work and run admin from home, which is why it’s imperative to maintain an organised work space. Whether you navigate through your own tidy-mess, or prefer a sedulous work-space, finding things that inspire you and having them within sight is a must – for me that’s plants and a magazine or two.

Not negating the importance of setting time aside to tend to one’s self, I use it to ensure I look out for my skin, whether or not it’s a makeup-free-day. After cleansing and moisturizing, I get ready with a quick full-proof minimal make-up look that takes me 8-10 minutes. The crux of my routine is to maintain a true reflection of the innate, which includes evening out my skin complexion, grooming my brows, exfoliating and hydrating my lips, and carefully applying a few coats of mascara.

  1. Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very difficult to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and appearance. I must say you have done a fantastic job with this. Also, the blog loads extremely quick for me on Internet explorer. Superb Blog!
