Morning! Today I decided to hop out of bed and finally post this long-overdue recipe on the blog. It took a little thinking on my part as I decided to stray from the original recipe I had in mind when I bought these cute little mason jars the other week. My recipe was inspired on a chance encounter with a rather delicious (and addictive!) oat cookie with chocolate nibs, but can definitely be tweaked to suit a healthier diet – particularly if you’re vegan. Today is rather exciting, as I finally get to share a longtime dream lookbook on the blog. This post features a collaborative effort with a young creative – who’s no stranger to THE MINIMALE BLOGGER – Amber Hennings, head designer for A Seam Studios.

I was lucky enough to wear a few pieces from her upcoming graduation collection, and styled it with a few of my own summer wardrobe favorites. We shot this lookbook in a new location and I love how vibrant the backdrop appears. I was lucky enough to have the boyfriend get behind the lens for this one, A TANGERINE DREAMSCAPE

As an avid reader of the blog, you might already know about my struggles with sensitive skin. The averse effects that harsh chemicals have had on my skin over the last year have ranged from red hives across my cheeks and temples, to a slightly more manageable stint of very dry skin.

Being the ever cautious beauty enthusiast you’ve come to know on the blog, I was a little weary about trying The Body Shop’s cream body scrub after receiving it as a gift from my Dad from his travels to Paris. THE BODY SHOP CREME SCRUB

Today on the blog I’ll be sharing my 7-day experience using the Garnier Pure Active 3-in-1 face scrub, Anti-Shine moisturizer and oil-infused Micellar cleansing water.

In order to get the full effects of each product, I decided to incorporate all three products in to my daily skincare routine as recommended by pharmacist Michèle Lalande. Using various products from the same brand within the same range means you’re getting the right amount of each ingredient, which work in sync with one another to prevent an irritation that might occur when incorrectly mixing acidic chemicals. Today’s post features a Spring inspired lookbook shot at the beach. I actually mapped this look out in my head first and was so pleased to see how it turned out. The overall finish is relaxed and really comfortable too, while the light colors and fabrics are perfect for warmer days.

I paired my outfit with simple leather flats and my go-to faux leather backpack. Spending the day frolicking around in the waves with family was so much fun, and now I’m really counting the days until summer gets here. SEA BREEZE & WHITE LINEN

Today I’m putting the spotlight on one of fashion’s favorite denim trends to resurface globally – the flared-denim. Since first re-emerging on runways, streetstyle blogs and all over Pinterest, the voracious outpouring of wide-legged denim trousers has gone through plenty of renovations – bringing with it a vast assortment of styles, cuts and colors.

And, as we’ve seen over the last year and counting, the iconic style of flared denim has become a wardrobe must-have all year ’round. WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH FLARED DENIM?

Today’s outfit post is accompanied by a brief personal story that speaks a bit about why I came out as “a minimalist” earlier this year. This shift has completely altered the way I think about fashion and my own personal style and has carried over in to many aspects of my life too.

In today’s little write-up I want to share with you three of my favorite fragrances that I always reach for in the summer time. Each fragrance has a unique blend of aromas, which means I can switch-up my scent whenever depending on my mood and the occasion.

My first favorite and long-time love is by Michael Kors – and I get complimented whenever I wear it. MY CURRENT FAVORITE FRAGRANCES

This past friday Lemuel and I celebrated another anniversary (yes, it’s like the hundredth) and because of my lactose intolerance currently at an all time high we opted for a new spot in Kloof st. that offers both vegan and non-vegan ice cream to treat ourselves. Founded by New Yorker-turned-Capetonian, Yann Rey, Unframed Ice cream parlor offers an unusual selection of innovative flavors that both shock and indulge the senses, with a vast selection of toppings to amp things up if you’re in to that.
I kept things simple with a scoop of Lemongrass infused Jasmine rice on a sugar cone topped with vegan dark chocolate sauce. I was absolutely blown away at the creamy consistency of the vegan ice cream – as most non-dairy alternative usually lack in this regard.

The flavor was a mouthful in both name and taste – but I enjoyed it from start to finish. The boyfriend went with two scoops of dairy ice cream and chose burnt white chocolate and salted caramel peanut which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Thank you to the awesome staff for letting us try out a few flavors first and for the general warmth and friendly service – we will definitely be back for another taste adventure. If you’re after a taste flight yourself, you can find this no-frills ice cream parlor on Kloof st. in Cape Town’s central business district between 12pm and 6pm Mondays – Saturdays.

Yesterday’s masterclass workshop with pro-makeup artist Jane Wilson – The Makeup Lowdown – featured the best of Bodyography’s cosmetics and makeup tools. I’ll be talking about my experience, a bit about the brand itself and share with you a few images from the #FinnisAndFaye Bodyography Cosmetics event.

The day kicked off early as I arrived sometime after 9am at the breathtaking Mondiall Bar and Restaurant, located in the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town. I was welcomed by Megan from Exposed By Her PR and immediately offered some of the best coffee I’ve tasted in Cape Town and then introduced myself to some of the other media attendees. On Saturday past, I was asked to style and assist a shoot at Super 8 Studios in Cape Town’s central business district. I worked with a great team and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We decided on earthy neutral colors in order to create a natural look-book for Charlotte’s modelling portfolio, and decided to keep her hair and makeup as fuss-free as possible.

This past month, I had the opportunity of giving away a brand new pair of Vogue Sunglasses. Our lucky winner was announced and kindly agreed to let me shoot her for the blog.

Below are some of the portraits we captured of Nuha Haroun, winner of the first blog giveaway, who looks incredible wearing her Vogue retro sunglasses VOGUE PORTRAITS
